The seminars have primarily been held since 2012 in Kőszeg, Hungary at the Institute for Social and European Studies. The group meets daily for seminar sessions in the beautiful ISES library building on the old city square. In the past two years a spring seminar has also been held in Benicàssim, Spain. Scroll down for more information regarding both locations.
Kőszeg, Hungary
Students room at a small communal housing compound near the city centre and the seminar meeting location. Behind the entrance gate, rooms of varying size (each with individual bathroom) are dispersed along an arched breezeway facing into a garden courtyard. The number of students housed in each room varies. A large shared kitchen, fully furnished, is also located off of the courtyard and is available for use.
Students have found the living arrangements comfortable and conducive to the focus required for the seminar reading & content.
Students expand on seminar discussions over a communal breakfast in the residence courtyard.
Meals
Meals are taken together with the seminar group at a variety of local restaurants and occasionally at private residences, allowing for further informal discussion and the development of community among seminar participants.
Centre Scholar Dr. Ron McMahan and Institute Director Dr. James Skelly converse with students over an informal dinner in Kőszeg.
Benicàssim, Spain - Spring 2015 and 2016
Benicàssim, Spain is a beach town perched along the Mediterranean coast, roughly 270 km south of Barcelona in the province of Castellon.
Students are housed in a cozy apartment complex, walking up the beach each day to the location where seminar dialogues will be held.
The format for the seminars in Benicàssim closely resembles that of the Kőszeg seminars of since their inception in 2012..
